McKenna Writes For “Investor Advocate” From Law Firm Bernstein Litowitz Berger & Grossman

Bernstein Litowitz Berger & Grossmann LLP is a law firm headquartered in New York that prosecutes class and private actions nationwide on behalf of individual and institutional clients. I’ve quoted partners and management committee members Steve Singer and Sal Graziano more than once here and at Forbes.

The firm was founded in 1983 and has been involved in many of the cases I follow closely. BLBG obtained a settlement against PricewaterhouseCoopers firms in the Satyam case. The firm is currently pursuing investors claims against Ernst & Young for Lehman. The firm is also representing bondholders in the case against MF Global executives and directors. The firm is responsible for many of the largest monetary recoveries in history.

BLBG publishes the Advocate for Institutional Investors, a quarterly newsletter which contains reporting and analysis of the latest securities and corporate law issues. The Advocate often features articles by the management and general counsel of some of the largest public pension funds in the country, as well as some of the nation’s premier securities litigators. This Spring the magazine also features my writing on the subject of private litigation against audit firms.

I am very proud of my contribution to the latest issue, “Holding Accountants Accountable: Can Private Litigation Force Auditing Reforms?”  Look for it on page 22 of the Spring issue of the Advocate.

Great article! Especially the part on investors’ responsibilities. THEY need to choose the auditors, rotate them, evaluate their independence, re-appoint, etc. Not management. Investors should start taking part and protect themselves by using their voting rights. Many other good points in advice in your article as well
