Two Great Links Today

Today is a wonderful day for me. And I’m trying to stay awake for it.  I was up all last night, up and down with the beeps on my blackberry, because my brain is full – full of ideas, full of questions, full of a desire to reach out to others and connect on these critical issues.

Dennis Howlett, an important mentor for me in my use of the tools of Social Media to get the message out about the Big 4, asked me to write about Women and Leadership.  That piece is here.  It was longer when submitted it to him late last night.  Brevity is not my strong suit. Perhaps the longer version will show up as a post here later.
I sent an email to Loren Steffy at the Houston Chronicle at 6:12 am on Saturday morning this past weekend. I had checked my blackberry as I was waking up and saw a wonderful article of his on the non-transparency associated with the awarding of contracts by Treasury for the bailout.  He’s written a followup blog post and linked to my post on the subject here.  It’s wonderful to find more journalists with the interest and desire to learn about these issues.  He did a great job.  I look forward to sharing with him in the future.
Later today I will be part of a panel at DePaul University sponsored by ISACA where I am a Chicago Chapter VP and DePaul’s College of Computing and Digital Media.  My presentation is on  Social Media and the CIO.  Presentations will be posted later. Did I tell you I am teaching there next term?
So, Mom, I am very busy but still single.

No need to post this commnet, but I was wondering if you’ve heard rumors about layoffs at EY? Apparently there were layoffs in some of the West Coast offices today. Keep us posted! You’re our connection to the truth.

That’s correct….across the board layoffs at EY. All practices across the country. Don’t know final numbers country wide though. I’m sure there’s more to come.
